One day I decided that I build tricopter. On the web is described many constructions. Apparently will enjoy with the tricopetr pretty fun and it is not so expensive as helicopter is. Construction can be quite simple and quite challenging. It depends on what method you choose to. I saw three carbon pipes with cardboard into a triangle, but also a complex structure like helicopters, ready to carry a big camera for professional video recording.
I chose the path of least resistance. What I found at home, I put on it. So on the arms, I used wooden prism 8x8 mm. Each arm is 40mm long. To be sure about tonnage, I cut the mortise into the prism and put the carbon stick into it as upright position. Arm is greatly solidified.
In the center I used the 3 mm plywood and sticking an arms with angle of 120 degrees. I stuck to it a another plate of plywood. Motors mount is small plates of plywood which I screw together by two screws M3. Between the two plates is an arm. These are not glued.
On one of the arms is necessary to make a tilt mechanism for engine controlled by servo. So I put there piece of carbon tube on the arm. On it are mounted two plates, bolted to the engine. Than the plates are hooked up with servo by 2mm wire. The servo is glued on the arm a bit closer to the center of tricopter.
I'm using washy CA glue anc activator. Lots of CA glue.
Now I have to mount gyros, controllers, battery, some landing gear and flight test may be undertaken. Stay with me in pursuing my adventures of that interesting project.
