Toshiba Camileo P10 - FullHD

Because I was not satisfied with FlyCamOne 2, I browse the web for some better one. I found several cameras like Sony MHS-PM1/D HD camera with tilter lens, Samsung HMX-U10UN - HD camera and so on. While i searching for some example videos for those cameras, i found this amazing one:

Titles say, camera is Toshiba Camileo P10. That's it! This is what i have to have. After a little googling I had offer to this new camera for 3200,- CZK ( 128,- EURO ). Bought it. Than i need to make something to mount this Camera to plane. So google was a friend and hour later i found the amazing site www.rcexplorer.com where is a detailed description about disassembling this camera to loose weight and use it on model plane. Thanks Dadde ! I was so happy I can work and make my dream in real world !

Since the camera arrived I made few pictures of my son and disassemble it :-) I also tried to disassemble display, but during that operation I brake the cable and display does not work.

There was a lot of rest parts, like plastic body, battery, flashlight etc. which i will never use again. I get it together and put inside some music box from damaged toy. So my son has another nice toy from the rest of camera now :-))

Due the camera construction, it is quite difficult to mount the camera on model plane. Otherwise, thanks to the camera construction it is possible to unmount the sensor module and put it to the cable to gain a chance to easily mount the camera to plan and put the sensor module to pan/tilt mechanism. It looks like easy way, but it is really not. All parts in camera are really miniature. First what i had to do, was buy the right connector for camera module. Thanks to Dadde for help. He found one on farnell.com. Next i needed some cable to connect things together. There is a 36 pins on connector, so the cable must have 36 wires. I found one on farnell.com, 36 wires twisted pair shielded cable.

Before the things arrive, I got to learn that Dadde did not have success with this project and his camera won't work with cam module on cable. What else, I just ordered things, I have to try to do it. First i must start with the shorter cable, according to Dadde's experience.

Maybe i'am lucky man, but my trial was successful ! Yes ! As you can see on pictures, it was really hard work under the magnifier.

I put a heat sink to one chip on camera board, due it looks like heating a bit.

Now it was a time to test it on plane. I mount the camera to my new TORO 900 and launch it. It works, video looks like I expect. Almost. ;-) First problem was vibration from motor. During the time when motor operates, picture looks pixelized a bit. Next problem is focal lenght of original lens. Need wider angle, otherwise the video is too shaky. As the Dadde also discovered and he first found solution. The lens from KX171 camera perfectly fit to the lens bracket on camera module and hase wide angle of view. Great news for me to, because those lenses are available on RangeVideo web shop as spare parts. First attempt at video processing. TORO 900 carries the camera. It is still with the original lens. Cam module have been connected by the extension cable. When I left time, i will prepare even better video.
